| Tim, played by
Ed Cooke, emerges from the back of the house and walks slowly into the
front yard. He is constantly scanning the sky.
He fixes his eyes on a particular part of the sky, though he doesn't understand why. |

BEFORE: To avoid difficult and extensive outdoor lighting for the test shot, we taped at 2:00 on a Saturday afternoon. The sun was in just about the exact position as the moon in the final composite. |

AFTER: Live footage is "projected" onto a CG "cutout", which excludes the treetops in the image. CG trees are added to create a 3-dimensional transition between the live footage and the CG night sky. |

A distortion appears in the sky, (just off center at the upper third) then slowly, the sky begins to turn around the anomaly. [FLASH plugin required for viewing] The effect appears as though the atmosphere is a heavy fluid that has been disturbed. |

| Tim rubs his eyes, unsure of what he is seeing. He is becoming dizzy. | ![]() |
| The sky is turning more obviously now. The Moon and stars are distorting. A vortex opens at the pivot point of the movement. | ![]() |
| Tim loses his balance and drops to the ground. | ![]() |
The vortex becomes more defined and frightening. As in the long shot of the house, CG trees will be added to create a 3-dimensional transition between the live footage and the CG night sky. As can be seen clearly in this early rendering, the "cutout" containing the live footage looks too much like a "cutout" against the sky. |
